J&J MFN deal: Switzerland as price anchor
Marcel Boller
Meanwhile, Johnson & Johnson also announced a voluntary MFN deal in the US on January 8, 2026 (including participation in a government-supported direct sales channel). This increases the pressure to align US prices more closely with those in "developed countries" – and any publicly visible price level in such markets becomes more relevant.
Impact on Switzerland?
Each additional MFN deal increases sensitivity to public Swiss prices: each SL price can "reflect back" as an international anchor. Since prices in the specialty list are transparent and regularly adjusted (including 3-year reviews, indication extensions), there is an increased risk that Switzerland will no longer be treated internally as a "small market" but as a price signal amplifier.
