MFN pressure on Europe and Switzerland
Marcel Boller
According to an article on Swissinfo, the MFN logic originating in the U.S. is putting noticeable pressure on European pricing systems: a low price in a reference country can now have global consequences much more quickly.
What are the key points?
- The FN is stepping up pressure to avoid low prices in reference countries as much as possible.
- As a result, Switzerland is shifting even further from being a local market to becoming an international price anchor.
What does this mean for Switzerland?
This is particularly sensitive for Switzerland. The market is small but has a global presence. Precisely for this reason, there is an increased risk that companies will hold back on pricing, prolong procedures, or only move toward market entry once the international pricing structure has been secured.
