TQV: BAG's Success with Tardyferon
Marcel Boller
In February 2026, Amgen completely withdrew Repatha (evolocumab) from the Danish market. A recent analysis in Health Affairs Forefront (Jibat & Ballreich, May 6, 2026) characterizes this move not as a clinical event, but as a commercial response to the international reference pricing framework.
What does this mean for Switzerland?
Switzerland was ranked just below the country whose withdrawal now sets the first precedent. This observation, however, requires some clarification: the ranking is based on list prices, not on the confidential net prices that actually determine the benchmark. Therefore, the only thing that can be said with certainty is this: The Swiss benchmark risk is real and plausibly high, but not proven on a net basis. Furthermore, Repatha is unusually weak commercially.
